How NOT To Cook Easter Dinner

We had 9 extra people invited over for our Easter turkey dinner today. We prefer those frozen turkeys that you cook from frozen. You take them straight from the freezer and put them in the oven. They don't take space in the fridge for days while they thaw plus they're way moister than a thawed turkey. They take 8 or 9 hours to cook. The wife got up early this morning to make deserts first then at about 9:00 am she put the frozen turkey into the oven. After that she started on salads, cutting up vegetables, peeling and cutting potatoes etc. About 1:30 pm she opened the oven to see how the turkey was doing. I was downstairs in the family room (working on a cover) when I heard her scream. I ran upstairs and found out she had forgotten to turn the oven on. There was this 20 pound block of ice sitting in the pan and dinner was in 3 1/2 hours.

Fortunately for us we had an 11 lb ham in the fridge that was to take 3 hours to cook. The turkey was still hard as stone so we wrapped it up and stuck it back in the freezer for another day, quickly washed the pan and tossed in the ham. We ate on time but had cranberries and turkey flavoured gravy on our ham dinner. :LOL :LOL
