Hi,
Saw this board name from a members over on the blu-ray site, their work was oustanding so wanted to come here to see and appreciate more work from other designers.
As for myself, im also a graphic designer who designs mostly wrestling covers and currently work for a Chinese wrestling cover doing their design work. It was wrestling that got me into graphic and cover design originally back in 2010. I used to always record the wwe shows on VHS, wow have times changed lol, so used to actually draw my own cover to put on the vhs' on my bookcase. Then i went digital and started doing my own DVD covers for each event i recorded and then grown to now blu ray, although i dont have much time to do many nowadays. Or when i have time, the events dont interest me as much as they used to.
As for films, i actually started blu ray steelbooks back when i purchased play.com Iron man steelbook cheap at just £10.99 for a pre-order. Then price skyrocketed and i finally stopped collecting them at the end of last year. From selling most of my collection i then started with 4k as most where better quality in watching than blu ray, and it gave me something else to collect and cheaper, than steelbooks. Still have a small collection and tried to stick to just Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel, DC and then either films i love ranging from Grease to Daniel Craig Bonds to classics like Jaws, Rambo, Die hard etc. So have a nice range. Plus, ive found with 4ks is because they are region free, sometimes amazon italy or spain have a few bargains so its way cheaper to import and then you can use custom covers.
With the custom covers, i always enjoy looking at the ones that look official and often have better artwork than the official releases. Then you have the boxset covers that help to keep shelf space to a minimum. For example, i have Transformers, Mission Impossible, Dark Knight Trilogy and Nolan Collection (with Dark Knight removed) all cases in 4ks to save on space.
Sorry for the waffling, cant wait to check out this site and start chatting with you guys and hopefully even start designing my own 4k cover as well, thats the eventual plan,
Thanks
Jamie
