Exploited for its access to undersea coal mines, Hashima island – also known as Battelship Island (for its shape) and Ghost Island – was a thriving miners town in the late 1800s.

However, the mines were closed in the late 1900s after the country switched from coal to petroleum, leaving the island to rot.

The only possible "Chilling" one I've seen yet is the Salto Hotel. What's "Chilling" about the others besides being abandoned?

Good images though. :O

Biggest man-made hole is Bingham Canyon Mine, more commonly known as Kennecott Copper Mine among locals, located 28 miles south of Salt Lake City in the USA, they have been mining copper there for almost 100 years now and still going...

:)

Oh and those little trucks you see dotted down in there, they are quite a bit bigger than pictured lol.

I lived in Utah during my teens & 20s. Kennecott was a constant item of news. You heard about stuff being done there all the time. It is huge. The trucks look like toys until you see them close up. I was always struck by how relatively little their loads looked, & how small & shallow their beds were, compared to their size, but it take a massive vehicle to move that many tons of ore in one load.
