Software Upgrade

Postby Roseflamingo » Mon May 30, 2016 12:28 am

I've been a long time user of Corel Paintshop Pro and have decided to try a different software program for designing covers. Any suggestions? What Adobe Photoshop Version would be suitable and/or has anyone found a better user software out there I may not be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help given. Tim (Roseflamingo) ;)

Photoshop is the undisputed King for raster images has been for years.

There is more "help" out there on it than anything else like tutorials, add-ons, plug-ins, and a multitude of other things.

It is the only software used by design houses and studios.

I'd recommend either CS6, CC 2014 or CC 2015 although I went back to CC 2014 from 2015 as I found 2015 to render slower, they will fix that I 'm sure but I've had few issues with CC 2014.

I used CS5 for years and CS3 before that, I skipped CS4, I still have CS5.1 installed as it can do a few very cool things that CC 2014 cannot do, imagine that lol.

I started out with CS2 then tried CS3 for the trial period and went back to CS2. Moved on to CS4 until CS6 came out. I got CS6 extended as a birthday, fathers day and Christmas gift from my wife and 2 daughters. Photoshop is the best like CT said I wouldn't use anything else.
You need to get CS6, then check out the tuts CT has done, they're great. :)

Your welcome, thanks for the nice compliment :)

I know many think Photoshop is complicated and hard to learn, I tell new users this, don't freak it just looks that way, if you think about it all image editing programs do the same things, they have the same "basic tools" and they work more or less the same way, so if you have used PSP it will actually be easier to switch.

Here it the big one to remember, your never alone with PS, it has millions of users across the planet and that makes finding those who can and will help you so much easier and everything is easier to learn with a little help from your friends.

No question about it. If I were staring out now, I'd be getting PS & studying under CT, for sure. His tutorials are without equal.
