Most Embarrassing Moments

Postby chouette » Fri Aug 19, 2016 8:27 pm

What would be your most embarrassing moment? I just thought of starting this post so I can read some of Fog's embarrassing moments, lol

But please feel free to add one of your own. So to start, here's mine:

On one busy day at the shopping mall, I was looking for a new pair of jeans. So I go into a store and went into a dressing room, trying a few pairs. As I was trying to pull the pair of jeans, I lost my balance and quickly tried to restore it on the dressing room door... which was the type of door you see in a western movie when entering a saloon, yes that's right the type of door that will definitely won't hold your balance AT ALL. So here I am on the floor with no pants on and it wasn't too bad until my friend saw me on the floor and started laughing like a nutcase! So the rest is quite obvious, all eyes were on me and to make things worst, I couldn't for the life of me, get the hell up! Of course my friend was no friggin' help because she wouldn't stop laughing, so it took a nice gentlemen to help me up.

Well, since you outed me, I guess I have to participate! :LOL

Something on the order of 20 years ago, as the MIS Director of the largest United Way agency in the Texas Gulf Coast region, it was incumbent upon me to attend frequent managerial meetings. One day, I had popped over to a local restaurant for a quick lunch before a big meeting. Now, these meetings usually had a majority of women, as women often comprise most of the upper positions in such organizations, go figure. In fact, I was replaced by a woman when I resigned, but that's not the point of this story. Anyway, I had my lunch, which was a delicious large bowl of loaded baked potato soup & a tuna salad sandwich. At the time, my normal attire was a 3 piece suit & long tie. I also sported a full length beard & 12" handlebar moustache. It always got comments & complimets at the orientation meetings I spoke at, so I kept it impeccably groomed. So, here I was, coming back from lunch for an hour to 2 hour meeting, with a room full of women. We went through all our business & everything went without a hitch. As I left & decided to hit them men's room, I looked in the mirror. There, staring back at me, was a massive glob of potato soup, drizzled down my beard. It was obvious & unmistakable, yet not one person in that meeting ever gave a hint that anything was amiss. I went through that whole meeting never knowing I looked like the local homeless guy that would sit in a booth at the back of the Dairy Queen & dribble his soup onto his beard & fall asleep into his coffee cup! Nobody ever mentioned it, but when I later asked a couple of the attendees why they hadn't said something & spared me the embarrassment, their response was that they didn't want to make me feel embarrassed! I never left a restaurant without going to the men's room & checking my look again!

Re: Most Embarrassing Moments

Postby Fogdude » Mon Aug 22, 2016 6:59 pm

Back in the early '80s, my wife & I decided to go out to dinner someplace new. I'd noticed a restaurant, several times, on the way to work that looked interesting. It advertised itself as 'Cajun' cooking. We arrived & got a table one evening & started perusing the menu & I was quite disappointed to find that virtually everything on the menu was seafood or mud bugs of some sort, even alligator, but no beef or chicken. I finally spotted an item I thought I could live with, "Breaded Deep Fried Drumsticks". Now, being a native born Texan, but having grown up all over the world, I assumed, as a 'Southern' boy, that this was chicken, so I ordered it.

When my dish arrived, it looked reasonably recognizable, so I picked up one of the 'drumsticks' & took a bite. I immediately assumed they weren't fully cooked. The meat was 'crunchy' & not at all like chicken & the flavor was odd. Not horrible, just odd. So I looked at the meat, from where I'd just taken a bite, & it looked unusually pale for chicken. Still, I took another bit & then, as I was holding the 'drumstick' in my hand, realized what was odd about it.

Spoiler Block
My drumstick had a KNEE! It turned out they were frogs legs, not chicken.

I ordered a plate of rice & beans & never went back there again.

Of all the things I hate most, vomiting is at the top of the list. Unless I've actually been poisoned, I never puke. In the past 50 years, I think I've done so 3 times. Twice, I was inebriated beyond belief & my body simply refused to retain the poison in my system any longer. The last time, I (unknowingly) got some tainted shredded cabbage (supposed to be prewashed & ready to eat) that I used to make a cole slaw. It got me that evening & it was traumatic in the extreme.

A couple of bites of frog leg didn't bother me at all. It just didn't appeal to me.

They are quite good actually, they are served locally here in several places, they are a very mild and white meat, no taste really other than the seasoning added, I'd suspect Fog got a umm... not so fresh serving, from the sound of it.
