not really sure whats out there at the moment m8, but i normally find the pioneer drives are pretty reliable and also i have heard good things about the Sony Optiarc drives (a joint venture of sony and nec)

I've always preferred the LG brands. currently using this one. LG 22X Dual Layer SATA Dual Layer Black DVD Burner. I've got 2 LG burners in a rig that is 3 years old working perfectly.

my pioneer, just collapsed, was an oldie but a goodie, heard somthing bout the sony, even from lg
dunno which to choose, are they both equal??

From everything I've heard they are about equal.. basically just a matter of preference. I've used both and my preference leans towards the LG, more because it's more readily available here than anything else.
