My father tried to educate my palate for years. I successfully resisted, though I bought him a collector's edition fifth of 25yo Chivas Regal in a porcelain bottle every year, until he had to stop because of his heart. Never did develop a taste for the stuff. I started out with a fond liking for Seagram's 7, which is still my fallback, but when I discovered Wild Turkey, I was done searching. I haven't had any kind of alcoholic beverage in almost 30 years, except an occasional toast with a few ounces of my wife's favorite, Blandy's Malmsey, an incredibly tasty Madeira wine that is almost as good as Harvey's Bristol Cream.
