Vacuum Cleaner Repair.... A True Story

Before you read this.... I have to tell you this is completly true. I know ther person that had this conversation.....a nd I was sitting there listening to part of it.. laughing till I cried. I got them to write it down and had to post it here.

Does anyone remember Abbott and Costello? Well this would do them PROUD!!!! remember.... absolutley true.

VacMan: Hello, Rogers Vacuum Repair. Can I help you?

Me: I sure hope so. How much would it be to find out what’s wrong with a vacuum cleaner?

VacMan: We have free quotes. What seems to be the trouble with it?

Me: I was told it could be the beater motor.

VacMan: Oh, ok. Well then just bring in the vacuum hose and we will check it out.

Me: No, you don’t understand the hose works fine; it’s the other part that doesn’t work.

VacMan: Right, the vacuum.

Me: Yes, the vacuum doesn’t work atall.

VacMan: So bring in the vacuum hose and we’ll test it.

Me: The hose works just fine. But when you push it you can hear it sucking, but the thingie that suppose to go around, doesn’t.

VacMan: Yes, the vacuum doesn’t work.

Me: Right

VanMan: So bring us just the vacuum hose and we’ll check it out.

Me: No, No. The hose is fine


VacMan: But you said it could be the beater motor?

Me: yes

VacMan: So we just need to test the hose to find out. Just bring it in.

Me: I’m confused. How can you test the motor with just a flimsily hose?

VacMan: No, not the hose, the vacuum

Me: So I bring in the entire vacuum?

VacMan: No, just the hose

Me: There’s nothing wrong with the hose! It’s the thing that goes round when the suckie thing is going on, but its not.

VacMan (Laughing now): ok, but we need to check it out.

Me: I know, so I’ll bring it all in.

VacMan: no, just the hose is fine

Me: I’m sure I’m confusing you, but let me try to explain this again. The hose is hooked to the vac, to bring it in, I have to bring it all in, it won’t come off. Besides its not it that’s not working, it’s the thingie that goes around, that isn’t, when the suckie thing is going on.

VacMan: (no sound)

Me: Hello?

VacMan: So like I said it’s the vacuum that’s not working? (laughing so hard I could hardly understand his words)

Me: Of course the vacuum isn’t working, or why would I be calling you?

VacMan (still trying to get control of himself): No, I mean the vacuum itself

Me: (getting frustrated by now) that’s right, it’s not working, I’ll just bring it all in!

VacMan: No, we don’t need the entire thing, just the hose.

Me: I’m really confused at how you can tell it’s the motor without seeing the motor, and just the hose.

VacMan: no, I need to see the vacuum itself (getting control of himself again)

Me: But you said just bring in the hose?

VacMan: that’s right

Me: But you said just now to bring in the vacuum?

VacMan: yes, just the hose.

Me: I really am confused. If it’s maybe the beater motor that’s gone, don’t you need to see it?


VacMan: yes, I need to see the vacuum.

Me: so I’ll bring it all in.

VacMan: Just the hose is fine.

Me: what?

VacMan: The hose. (Starting to laugh again) It’s the vacuum that’s gone, right?

Me: No, the suckie thing works fine

VacMan: (laughing so hard now I couldn’t make out his words and had to ask again what he said) It’s the vacuum that’s broke

Me: Of course, or I wouldn’t be calling

VacMan: (dying laughing) Just bring it all in!

Me: that’s what I was going to do. Thank – You
