I haven’t seen any of the “Purge” movies and I doubt I’ll be seeing this one also, although I’m being told that it’s quite good. It’s now playing in theaters and a DVD release date is estimated for October 2016.

The Purge: Election Year (2016)

Two years has past since we saw Leo Barnes survive the last Purge night. He's back, and is in charge of protecting Senator Charlie Roan as the head of her security team. His main focus is to protect her during her presidential campaign during the most criminal night of the year when everyone is a target. When their safety is compromised, they are forced out onto the streets with nowhere to hide. Leo must find a way to keep them both alive until the twenty-four hour period is over, or they will both fall prey to the masses.

Genre – Action, Horror, Sci-Fi
Starring – Frank Grillo, Elizabeth Mitchell, Mykelti Williamson, Terry Serpico
Director – James DeMonaco
Writers – James DeMonaco

I won't include any spoilers then, the first was actually a surprise it was better than I had expected it to be, yet it still only pulls a 2.5 out of 5 from me rating wise it just lacked too much.

The second movie at least they went in new direction, I mean as best you can when you are locked to a fixed theme like this, still it fell a little short as well again 2.5 out of 5.

This new one watching the trailers it looks like it could have potential but they have disappointed me some already and this one seems to draw a lot of plot line from the second, maybe too much in the end, who knows right, none the less I'm positive I will be watching it once it comes to disc, I doubt I'll pony up cash to see it on the big screen though.

I thought the premise was great, though as I recall, it's kinda borrowed from an old Star Trek episode. Still, I went for both the first two. Like CT, I was a bit unimpressed, but they were worth one watch. I'll be grabbing this when it's on DVD.
